Investment Resources

The Investment tab under resources allow you to build up a list of the client investment resources. Many different types of investment resource can be added.


You can add a new resource by clicking on Add new resource, edit an existing resource by clicking on the Resource description or delete a resource by click on the X icon. The G symbol at the left side of the screen indicated that the resource is used to fund the goals for the client. For more information on goals please see Setting up your client's goals.

The "View Portfolio" link indicates that this investment is being managed on OMNIMax. That is OMNIMax has full record of all the Investments and transactional history. Managed portfolio are setup under the Product Management --> Portfolios tab.

Adding a new Investment Resource.

You can add a new Investment Resource by clicking on "Add new resource". A range of different types of resource will appear as shown below. In this example we will add a new Portfolio as shown by the red arrow.


1. Setup Asset Details 


Name (optional) - You can setup an optional name to help you identify the portfolio. If you leave this empty the resource will simply be called Portfolio.

Valuing the Asset. There are two methods available to value the assets: -

  1. Value by estimate - The value by estimate option allows you to manually set a value for the asset along with an appropriate Annual Rate of Return. You can also choose whether this asset is included in the asset allocation analysis or not. 
  2. Value by investment breakdown. This option allows you to break down the investment into asset sectors. When you select this option the following screen is shown. 


    You can then add the investment breakdown by clicking on the "Add investment" link.


    Name is the name of the investment OR asset sector. 

    Amount is the latest valuation.

    Sector is the sector in which the asset is held.

    When you have finished click on "Save" to enter the investment OR click on "Cancel" to exit without saving.


    An appropriate rate of return and risk is set in accordance with your Sector Risk Returns template. You can add more Investment by click on "Add investment", edit the existing one's by clicking on Edit or delete an investment by clicking on the X icon.

    You can also choose whether you exclude this investment from the client's asset allocation by selecting the "Exclude this resource from Asset Allocation analysis" option.

2. Set the Goal Details

You can also set how this investment will be used to fund the goals. There are three options available: -
  1. Fund all goals

    Selecting the "Fund all goals" option mean that the Investment resource can be used to fund any of your goals. Funding will occur in the priority order of the goals with the highest priority goal being funded first. For more information on goals please see Goals Dashboard.

  2. Fund on specific goal

    You can link an Investment Asset directly to a specific goal by selecting the "Fund one specific goal" option. You can then set the specific goal by using the selection list on the right.

  3. Exclude from goals.

    You might also like to exclude the asset from funding any of the goals. You can do this by selected the "Exclude from goals" option.
You can also set when the asset becomes available to fund the goals. Certain asset can be locked until, for example, the client reaches their retirement age. It is important that this option is set so the asset are not used prematurity. An example of this would be a pension fund would become available when the client reaches their retirement age.

3. Finally you can set any contribution that will be made to this investment.

There are two different types of contributions that can be added: -
  1. Add deposit - This is a one off deposit.


    You can set a description, an amount for the deposit and also whether this deposit will be inflated over time. You can also set when the deposit will occur. When you have finished click on "Save" to add this deposit to the list or "Cancel" to exit without saving.


  2. Add regular deposit - This is a regular savings or SIP into an investment



    You can set a description, an amount and period for the regular deposit and also whether this deposit will be inflated over time. You can also set when the deposit will start and finish. When you have finished click on "Save" to add this deposit to the list or "Cancel" to exit without saving.



When you have finished enter all the information about the asset click on "Save" to add this investment asset to the list or "Cancel" to exit without saving.
